Reenrollment FAQ

How does the Graduate Reenrollment process work?
  1. Students must contact their program coordinator to inform them of their intent to return to the program.
  2. If a student has not attended 草榴视频 for an extended period of time, they may be required to submit an Extension of Time request, as students have six or seven years to complete their degree, depending on the program. This request will be reviewed by the Dean of the Divison of Graduate and Continuing Education, and the decision will be communicated to both the student and the Office of the Registrar.
  3. If the student completed any coursework while away from WSU, an official transcript must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar. The Program Coordinator will review the transcript to determine whether the course(s) will be accepted.
  4. Submit the Reenrollment Application.

Holds:

All outstanding holds must be cleared before a Reenrollment Application can be processed. Students with holds on their account must contact the appropriate office(s) to resolve them.

Once all holds have been cleared, it is the student鈥檚 responsibility to notify the Office of the Registrar by emailing reenrollment@westfield.ma.edu so the reenrollment process may resume.

If you are unsure whether a hold exists on your account, please contact the Office of the Registrar at registrar@westfield.ma.edu or by phone at (413) 572-3200.

Reenrollment Applications submitted with outstanding holds will remain in a 鈥減ending鈥 status until all holds are cleared and the Office of the Registrar has been notified. Failure to clear all holds prior to the semester deadline will result in automatic denial of reenrollment for that semester. Students who are denied must submit a new application for a future semester if they wish to return.

Extension of Program Form:

You are expected to complete your degree requirements within six (6) years (seven (7) in the Counseling M.A. and Foundation Curriculum of the M.S. Accounting programs) from the date of the first course credited toward your degree, including transfer credits from other accredited institutions. No credit will be given for a course older than six years at the time of graduation. If you fail to meet this time requirement, you must apply in writing for an extension, stating in detail the reasons for the request. The university does not guarantee that the extension will be granted, and the Dean of the Division of Graduate and Continuing Education may impose additional requirements before the degree will be granted.

If it has been six or more years since your program began, you will need to submit the online to request an extension of your program.

OR, please contact reeenrollment@westfield.ma.edu for access to the form.

Your form will be reviewed by the Dean of Graduate and Continuing Education. If the program Extension is approved, you will be notified, and we will be able to continue with the Reenrollment process.

Please note: if it has been five years or more since you last attended WSU, your curriculum catalog will need to be updated to the current year鈥檚 catalog. This update may alter the requirements and degree progress for some programs. Additionally, you may be required to provide supporting documents, such as official transcripts from other graduate programs and your bachelor鈥檚 degree.

Academic Advising

The staff and faculty of 草榴视频 Division of Graduate and Continuing Education office understand and respect the concerns and needs that many adults have about pursuing a graduate degree. We emphasize the importance of good academic advising to both new students and students who are at various stages of completing their Master鈥檚 degree curriculum.

Upon admission into a graduate academic program, you are assigned a major advisor. It is your responsibility to arrange an appointment with your advisor as soon as you are admitted to outline your Program of Study, taking into consideration previous experience and your goals and objectives. Although your advisor will assist you in planning your path to degree completion, you must assume responsibility for knowing and meeting the curriculum requirements of your program.

Because we are strongly committed to quality academic advising and holistic support services as an integral component of our educational programs, we encourage you to contact your advisor prior to your first registration or as early as possible during your first semester. We are eager to help orient you to our programs and services and help you develop sound educational plans, designed to fit your motivations for returning to school and any unique concerns you may have.
